Marathon West is a whole new look for Marathon. The package includes
5 new levels, a shapes patch, and a physics model. There are all-new
weapons, new scenery, and a bunch of nice places to kill your friends.
First, the
bad news: These are PPC-only levels.This may change at some point, but for
now, don't try 'em on your 040, unless you like the startup beep. Also-there
is no sounds patch, so your Winchester will be firing bullets that sound like
fusion bolts (among other oddities). So, why should you download this package? Simple. You get to blow away your opponents in the old showdown style. Take Fort Dodge, for instance. The town is laid out around Main Street, with Snoot Hill at one end and some underground mining caves at the other. Right about center is the jail, and with its flat roof and easily guardable entrance, it makes a great sniper base. Don't get locked in the cells, though!
Fort Worthless gives you access to the stockade wall. High ground is good, but not
when there's no cover! Look for the shotgun, it packs a wallop! Rod Rider Express
lets you duke it out on a speeding express. Don't fall off! Pancho's Pueblo has a
very-hard-to-get-to Gatling gun, but if you make it, your opponents better look out!
